Hand block printing is an ancient textile tradition that originated in Northern India. It involves stamping designs onto fabric by hand using intricately carved wooden blocks. Manufacture of wooden blocks is a laborious process and requires tremendous skill and team work. The process involves creating intricate designs by hand and then carving the same on wooden blocks. And finally the printers use the carved wooden blocks, dip them in pigment colors to get desired colours and stamp them onto the fabric. As many as ten different blocks are used to complete one.
This is a hand block printed light magenta color kanjivaram silk-cotton saree weaved with 80% pure silk and 20% pure mercirised cotton. The Highlight is the rich block print all over the saree. It also has a running blouse. It is suitable for festive, casual and formal wear.
